The Specially Adapted Housing Grant, provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), aims to support Servicemembers and Veterans with specific permanent and total service-connected disabilities.

This grant assists them in purchasing, constructing, or modifying an adapted home to accommodate their unique needs. There are two grant programs available: the Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) grant and the Special Housing Adaptation (SHA) grant. Additionally, Veterans who temporarily reside in a family member’s home may be eligible for a Temporary Residence Adaptation grant (TRA).
