Johnstown's Metal Roof Company for Long-Lasting Home Protection

Johnstown sits high enough in the Alleghenies to catch a real winter. Heavy snow, ice, and the constant freeze-and-thaw that comes with mountain weather are hard on a roof, and they're especially hard on asphalt shingles, which crack and curl long before you'd hope.

If you've replaced a roof here before, you know the cycle. A metal roof is how you break it. Metal sheds snow instead of holding it and shrugs off the freeze-thaw that chews up shingles, so it keeps protecting your home for decades. Solarshield has installed roofs across Central Pennsylvania since 1978, and metal roofing is what we do.

Metal Roofing Built to Last in Johnstown

When homeowners consider metal roofing, longevity is what sells them. A well-installed metal roof lasts decades, often 50 years or more, with very little upkeep, while a typical asphalt roof needs replacing every 15 to 20 years.

We install 26-gauge galvanized steel in two profiles, so you can match your home's style. Metal sheds snow and resists the freeze-thaw damage that wears out asphalt, and it won't rust out the way you might expect, which is exactly what a Johnstown roof needs. For a full roof replacement, it's the choice that pays off longest.

Standing Seam

Standing seam has raised seams running vertically down the roof, with the fasteners hidden underneath the panels. Nothing's exposed to the weather, so nothing works loose over the years. You get a clean, modern look and the long-term performance metal is known for, and it handles the heavy snow and rain Johnstown throws at it.

Metal Shingle and Shake

If you'd rather keep a traditional look, metal shingles give you the appearance of a classic roof with metal's durability underneath. We form them from the same 26-gauge galvanized steel as our standing seam. It's a good fit for a neighborhood where you want to blend in, without the repair-and-replace cycle asphalt puts you through.

Warranty Coverage Johnstown Homeowners Can Count On

Warranty matters on a roof meant to last this long. Select metal products carry a lifetime manufacturer warranty against cracking and peeling, plus 30-year fade protection that keeps the color looking new. On top of that, every install is backed by a Solarshield labor warranty covering the workmanship.

Asphalt Shingle Roofing in Johnstown

Metal isn't the only option, and it isn't right for every budget. When asphalt is the better fit, we install it through our Owens Corning partnership, with a wide range of styles and colors to choose from.

Seamless Gutter Installation for Johnstown Homes

A roof and its gutters work together, especially in a climate that's running snowmelt off the roof all winter. Sectional gutters leak at the seams, letting water get behind the fascia. We form seamless aluminum gutters on-site to fit your home, which eliminates most seams and the leaks that start there. It's a straightforward upgrade that protects your fascia and foundation from water damage.
